On November 3, the citizens of Seminole, Texas, have the opportunity to stand for preborn babies and their mothers by voting YES on the “Sanctuary City for the Unborn” Proposition 2 ballot measure.
What does this measure do?
Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn saves lives by providing an additional layer of local protection for women and the baby in their womb. This measure would add local protections for unborn babies and their mothers. It would prohibit abortion within city limits and restrict the delivery of abortion-inducing drugs into Seminole.
The ordinance includes an exception when a mother’s life is in danger. It also encourages connecting pregnant women with pregnancy resource centers and state-funded programs that offer financial, emotional, and medical support.
How did this measure get on the ballot?
After the City Council declined to save babies with the proposed ordinance, local citizens took matters into their own hands and undertook the difficult citizen-initiative process to put the decision directly to the voters of Seminole.
More than 1,550 signatures were gathered and submitted to the City of Seminole, giving citizens the opportunity to decide the issue at the ballot box.
Seminole is not the first Texas city where citizens have taken this step. Residents of Lubbock, San Angelo, and Abilene pursued citizen initiatives after their city councils declined to adopt similar life-saving measures. In each case, voters ultimately approved the measures at the ballot box.
In a local election, every vote matters!
A vote for this measure is a vote to affirm that Seminole values BOTH mothers and their children and believes both deserve protection and support.
Seminole now has the opportunity to join the growing number of Texas communities that have declared themselves Sanctuaries for the Unborn.
Seminole, vote YES!
Early voting runs from October 19 through October 30, 2026, with Election Day on November 3.
Encourage your family, friends, neighbors, and church community to vote YES on the Sanctuary City for the Unborn ballot measure and help make Seminole a Sanctuary City for the Unborn!
